Exclusive Private Africa Safaris
We feel that each trip needs to be as unique as each client. During the initial meeting we determine what is enjoyed in a vacation and the level of adventure each traveler seeks. Are you wall to wall luxury or do you want a few days of camel trekking? Katika Africa is also the first US based company to be able to offer self drive safaris through our partners "Safari Drive".
After our first meeting we setup an initial itinerary with our team in the UK and operators in Africa. This itinerary is then presented to you for your approval and we make adjustments together accordingly. Following with Katika Africa's philosophy that we are never "done" with a client, we are then available to consult with you on every detail of your trip, be it what to buy or which bug spray you can use. Traveling from the US to Africa frequently ensures that Katika Africa have been through it all more than once and built on experience over the years as to what works and what doesn't. This is something that is missing when booking through a mass agent who may have been on one familiarization trip with 40 other travel sales personal.
Great care has been taken in selecting ground operators in Africa so that when in Africa you are cared for by the finest experienced personnel. Having our partners offices in the United Kingdom also allows us to provide support on the same time zone as Africa. This is something that is inherently flawed when troubles arise with US only based Safari companies.
"We spent four amazing weeks in Africa and the first thing I would tell any of my friends planning a trip to Africa is to talk to David and Linda. This may be a once in a lifetime vacation and David and Linda helped us plan and do things that we couldn't have known about prior to going. They listened to our wishes, which were especially tough as I am more of "Mr. Backcountry" and my wife is all about luxury, and helped us plan our adventure. During several lunches and tons of email and phone conversation, they answered our onslaught of questions and made sure we knew about things we might have missed (like trekking Mountain Gorillas). They counseled us all the way up to the day we left on everything from political situations to they types of gloves to wear while bush whacking your way through the mountains as you look for gorillas. We wanted a very personal and private experience in Africa and that is exactly what we had. We slept in the bush in tents, stayed in the most amazing luxury camps, ate probably the best food I've ever had on vacation while learning to track cheetahs, lions, and buffalo, and slept on the roof of our Land Rover as we drove ourselves through Tanzania. It was a perfect mix of backcountry and luxury. We could not have known what was possible without their help and experience. We look forward to exploring even more on our next trip to Africa and will rely on David and Linda to help us plan it."
